"Shanghai Red" Heads to Hollywood Film Festival
"Shanghai Red," a joint production by Hollywood couple Oscar Luis Costo and Vivian Wu, is set to feature at the third Hollywood Chinese American Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Leading actress Vivian Wu on Friday expressed the wish that the film could offer the American viewing public a better understanding of urban life in China.
According to the movie's official website, the film's story, set in the modern metropolis of Shanghai, revolves around a young mother whose guilt over her husband's death leads her to a double life of murder and deception.
The film festival is to be held from November 1 to 9 in Hollywood. Several recent Chinese movies are in the event's line-up, including the historical film "Tokyo Trial," Derek Yee's "Protege," China-Poland co-production "Love in the Year of the Tiger" and "American Fusion," a comedy portraying the life of Chinese immigrants in the United States.
The films will be screened for eight days in a local mainstream theater.
Besides enriching the audience's appreciation of the Chinese film culture, the festival also serves as a platform for international dialogue and collaboration in the areas of film education, financing and production.
